Environment
NioBay is committed to minimize its footprint during exploration. It will ensure responsible, ethical stewardship to preserve the environment for present and future generations. This commitment acknowledges the short and long-term economic, social, and environmental impacts of the development stages. Measures will be implemented in every project to minimize the carbon footprint of our operations. Furthermore, NioBay utilizes zero-carbon hydroelectricity and seeks low-carbon emissions technology to support a clean mine and reduce the project’s environmental footprint. Through engagement with Indigenous communities, regulators, and other stakeholders, NioBay will establish a robust water management system with board oversight and annual public reporting through submissions to the Ontario Ministry of Environment. During operations, a Wildlife Management Plan (WMP) will be developed with Indigenous input and regulatory oversight. The WMP’s goal is to maintain habitat availability, prevent disruption of wildlife migration corridors, and reduce on-site mortality risks.

NioBay focuses on establishing sustainable partnerships with the communities associated to its projects based on human rights, respect for human dignity and mutual trust, in order to reach its objectives and build a shared commitment. We support local initiatives to improve quality of life, education and cultural heritage, fostering transparency and communication with communities through information meetings, visits and correspondence.
